Everytime i fill my returns i feel that I am doing something great for my country. I am actually putting it in the path of progress. I am being instrumental in actually developing this great nation in the most important measure in this world, money. I am sure that every tax payer is feeling this same way. But have we ever scrutinized the fact as to what happens to the money after we pay it. After all by only paying the tax our responsibility doesn't end, it rather begins. We need to check how efficiently our money is being used and whether we are actually being benifitted out of that or not.
Whenever we go to introspect such things there are certain flashes infront of us. These flashes are just to make us happy and believe that we are actually developing, let alone the fact that many people in our country are not even having drinking water at all.
1. Increase in foreign reserves- makes no sense to the poor because they don't even have a cent from it.
2. Rapid growth in service sector - makes no implications that we are being technically supeme. It onl means that we are proud to being used as cheap labours.
3. Consistent growth in GDP - Make this statement understood to the farmer who is going to commit suicide because of our "developmental" policies.
4. Reservations for the poor - Only to get votes and nevertheless the genuines don't get it. To prove the world that in India merit is no longer valid.
So how do we see the real things getting out of these flashes? How do we see where India is heading to? The executive and legislature viewpoint is hopeless, the beaurocracy is fractured, the judiciary is castrated and the fourth estate, the press and the media are biased and heavily sensational. Where does the common man go?
This is the time when he himself takes things into his own hands. This is the time when he asks accountability to the members of the government and asks that very important question, Give me the value for my money? This is the time when he brings those politicians down from their private jets fuelled by his money and asks him to walk on the same potholed street on which he is walking. This is the time when he slaps that government worker who is paid by his tax and then also asking for bribe from him.
The time has come for us to rise up, so that India really shines elsewhere and is poised everywhere apart from the media.
